Hamas's decision not to participate in the future government of the Gaza Strip comes ahead of an international summit in Egypt. The recent ceasefire, based on President Trump's 20-point plan, calls for the disarmament of Hamas and its exclusion from the future administration. Although Hamas will relinquish control over Gaza, it will remain an important actor in Palestinian society. The plan stipulates the creation of a technocratic committee to manage public services during the transition period, and Hamas has requested a meeting with Egypt to discuss the composition of this committee.
