The Palestinian Islamist paramilitary organization recently condemned the Knesset bill that provides for the death penalty for those considered terrorists, accusing Israel of an attempt to "legalize systematic killing" of Palestinians. Hamas described the law as "sadistic" and a flagrant violation of international law and human rights. Furthermore, the Islamist group called on the international community, especially the UN, to condemn this initiative and to pressure Israel to withdraw it.

The bill, promoted by the far-right party of Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, allows the application of the death penalty by Israeli military courts in the West Bank, without the need for unanimity among judges. This law could affect not only attacks on soldiers but also less violent actions, labeling them as terrorism. Hamas also called for the formation of an international commission to investigate the conditions in Israeli prisons, where Palestinian prisoners have reported severe abuses.
