On Monday morning, the Toronto police intervened after gunfire was reported near the U.S. Consulate, an incident that occurred in an area already marked by a similar attack in March. Officers heard the shots and noticed a white sedan fleeing the scene. The area was immediately cordoned off, and shell casings were found near the diplomatic building. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and there are currently no identified suspects.
The American consulate thanked the police for their response. The March incident had been classified by authorities as a 'national security incident,' and the protection of diplomatic buildings has been strengthened. Two young individuals were arrested in June in connection with the March attack, suspected of recruiting for acts of violence. The police are investigating other events with a similar modus operandi.
