The attack happened on Tuesday night when gunmen opened fire at a neighborhood party, causing panic and chaos. Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum described the incident as a "confrontation", noting that the victims included a 17-year-old boy. Guanajuato is notorious for violence generated by cartel rivalries, making it Mexico's most dangerous state in 2024 with 3,151 homicides.
