More and more Greeks are vacationing abroad as holidays in Greece have become more expensive compared to other European destinations.

Greeks prefer foreign vacations because of rising prices at home, with €2.8 billion spent on foreign travel in 2024. Examples include a couple who chose Prague instead of the island of Tinos, and a family who opted for Tenerife instead of Corfu, saving €1,000. Also, high demand from foreign tourists and the modernization of infrastructure have driven up accommodation costs in Greece.
