The resignations were prompted by a case referred by the European Public Prosecutor's Office, which is investigating allegations of fraud in the management of agricultural subsidies between 2019 and 2022. Makis Voridis, minister of migration, resigned but maintained his innocence. The Greek government decided to abolish the agency in charge of subsidies to improve transparency. The European Commission announced a 5% cut in subsidies for Greece.
