The proposals are aimed at banning the letting of basements, converted warehouses and former industrial properties. The government wants to balance the benefits of tourism with access to housing by offering tax breaks to landlords who give up short-term rentals. The debate also includes opposition views calling for even tougher restrictions on short-term rentals.
