Greece has decided to deploy a military force in Cyprus, including two frigates and two F-16 fighter jets, in response to drone attacks on the island.

The Greek Minister of Defense, Nikos Dendias, stated that Greece will contribute to the defense of Cyprus against external threats. Recent attacks, including an incident in which an unmanned aerial vehicle struck the British base at Akrotiri, have raised concerns.

An Iranian commander has threatened to escalate attacks on Cyprus, citing the presence of American military forces.

The President of Cyprus, Nicos Christodoulides, emphasized that the country will not participate in military operations.

Ursula von der Leyen, the President of the European Commission, reaffirmed support for EU member states in the face of threats.

Precautionary measures have also been taken at airports in Cyprus, and the United Kingdom has updated travel advice for its citizens.
