Grampet-GFR from Romania and CRRC Shandong recently signed an agreement to establish a factory in Hungary, which will produce open freight wagons, platform wagons, and container wagons. The choice of Hungary as the location was influenced by Grampet's stable presence, moderate operating costs, and logistical advantages. Grampet is the largest private freight transport operator in Central and Southeastern Europe, with a turnover of 1.027 billion lei in 2023. The current project is a continuation of the collaboration from 2024, when locomotive production resumed in Hungary. The factory will contribute to the development of the railway industry and will be part of a broader network of investments in this sector. It is also expected to establish four professional centers for railway maintenance and education. This investment underscores the role of the city of Debrecen as a regional industrial center, strengthening its position in railway production.
