The American authorities announced the creation of a fund that will allow compensation from public funds to supporters of Donald Trump, through a government agency under the control of the presidential administration.
The announcement came after Trump dropped a $10 billion lawsuit against the American IRS, in which he accused the agency of unauthorized leaks of his tax returns. The Department of Justice clarified that Trump will not receive financial compensation, but will benefit from official apologies. In January, Trump and his sons sued the IRS and the Department of the Treasury for disclosing tax information. Federal Judge Kathleen Williams expressed doubts about the legitimacy of the lawsuit. The recent agreement joins other previous settlements made by the Trump administration with close associates of the president, including compensation for Michael Flynn and Carter Page. After withdrawing the lawsuit, nearly 100 Democratic congressmen accused the administration of a conflict of interest.
