Google reacted after the European Commission fined the company 890 million euros for violating competition rules on digital platforms.

Google representatives claim that the way DMA is implemented negatively affects products used daily by Europeans, forcing the company to remove appreciated functionalities, such as displaying prices and availability for hotels and flights. They assert that the regulations do not ensure fair competition but degrade the quality of products, thus affecting companies and consumers in Europe.

The European Commission found that Google violated the obligations set by DMA, imposing a fine of 460 million euros for favoring its own services in search results and another fine of 430 million euros for restrictions imposed on app developers in Google Play.
