Global alcohol consumption will continue to decline in the next decade, despite the increase in population.

According to an analysis conducted by the research firm IWSR (International Wine & Spirits Research), global alcohol consumption will decline in the next decade, even though the population continues to grow.

Sales in the beverage sector, including whisky and beer, have started to decrease beginning in 2023, due to rising living costs and changing consumption habits. IWSR estimates that the volume of global alcohol consumption will continue to decline until after 2031, and by 2035 there will be a 1% decrease compared to the previous year.

Changing consumer tastes, including a preference for new drinks, will significantly influence the market. In this context, India is expected to become the second largest alcohol market in the world, surpassing the United States by 2032, with an estimated growth of 38% in the next 10 years. Other countries with growing demand include Mexico, Vietnam, and Colombia.
