Germany is strengthening its naval presence in the North Atlantic as part of efforts to support allies, declared German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius during his visit to Singapore. The German frigate Sachsen will be deployed as the flagship of NATO's permanent operational force, while another frigate, Brandenburg, will be sent to the North Atlantic to respond to Russia's military activities in the region.
These measures come in the context of the United Kingdom sending the destroyer HMS Dragon to the eastern Mediterranean, in response to tensions generated by the Israeli-American conflict with Iran. Additionally, the United Kingdom and France have reinforced their presence in the area following a drone attack on a British base in Cyprus.
