German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has announced that Germany, France and the United Kingdom plan to ask their foreign ministers to make a joint visit to Israel in the wake of the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip. Merz stressed that the Israeli government must act to advance ceasefire negotiations. In addition, Germany will send humanitarian aid to Gaza, but the King of Jordan has said it is insufficient, calling for more resources. Some 2.4 million Palestinians suffer under the Israeli blockade.
