The German Ministry of Defense announced on Tuesday the donation of a new batch of PAC-3 interceptor missiles for the Patriot air defense systems, as part of a joint initiative with partners from the Ukraine Defense Contact Group. The package includes 35 missiles, each valued at approximately 3.2 million euros, and aims to support Ukraine in defending against Russian air attacks.
Germany, the largest European provider of military aid to Ukraine, leads the Sustainable Action in Air Defense (EAAD), which has included previous deliveries of IRIS-T systems and air-to-air missiles. In the context of the crisis in the Middle East, President Zelensky proposed to the U.S. and Gulf allies to collaborate in combating Iranian drones, in exchange for additional Patriot missiles, considering that their availability has significantly decreased.
