During the talks in Brussels, Germany and other EU member states asked for more time to assess the situation in Gaza, blocking the proposed sanctions against Israel. Although many countries in the bloc support sanctions as a way to increase pressure on the Israeli authorities, Germany and Italy remain key players in the process. The European Commission has already recommended partially suspending Israel's participation in the Horizon Europe program, citing human rights violations. The decision-making process could face legal delays.
