The lower house of the German parliament approved the budget for 2026 on Friday, which provides for total expenditures of 525 billion euros. The project includes loans of over 180 billion euros, setting a new historical record, except for the pandemic period. The budget allocates 108 billion euros for military spending, the highest since the Cold War, and provides 11.5 billion euros for support to Ukraine, intended for the purchase of artillery, drones, and military vehicles. Opposition parties criticized the budget, citing the increase in public debt as a cause for concern.
