Germany has decided to acquire another 20 military helicopters Airbus H145M, in a contract valued at approximately 1 billion euros, according to a government document cited by Reuters. Of the 20 aircraft, 15 will be used in combat version, while 5 for the training of special forces, with deliveries set to begin in 2027, over a period of two years. This order complements a framework agreement from 2023, which allows the purchase of up to 82 H145M helicopters, of which 62 have already been ordered. The total cost of 931 million euros will be covered by a special fund created for the accelerated modernization of the German army, in response to the increasing threats from Russia. Additionally, the contract will also benefit other companies in the defense industry, such as Hensoldt, which will provide electronic warfare equipment. The German government estimates that the maintenance and operation of the entire fleet of 82 helicopters will cost nearly 3 billion euros by 2048.
