German Chancellor Friedrich Merz expressed optimism about peace in Ukraine, noting that Donald Trump shares similar views. Merz emphasized that recognizing Russian-occupied territories is not an option and that a ceasefire must be the priority. French President Emmanuel Macron confirmed that there have been no serious talks about territorial exchanges and that Trump has said any negotiations must involve Ukraine. Ukrainian President Zelenski warned that Putin was "bluffing" about wanting peace. European leaders and Trump are united in efforts to end the conflict.
