An incident occurred in Salon-de-Provence, in Bouches-du-Rhône, where a military aircraft Cirrus SR-20 crashed during a training flight.
On board were an instructor and a student pilot, both suffering minor injuries. The aircraft made an emergency landing on a national road while cars were passing by.
Apparently, at the time of landing, it hit a guardrail and caught fire.
The French Air Force announced that the crew members were conscious and were quickly taken over by medical teams from the airbase. The local mayor praised the instructor's skills in handling the situation. Approximately 30 firefighters intervened to extinguish the fire. Investigations have been opened by the Bureau of Accident Investigations and Aviation Safety (BEA-E) to determine the causes of the accident. The aircraft was used for initial pilot training at airbase 701.
