Jean-Noël Barrot, the French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, announced on February 10 that he has referred the case to the French judiciary regarding the name of diplomat Fabrice Aidan, associated with the Jeffrey Epstein case. Barrot emphasized that the action aims to signal the 'alleged facts' and has informed the competent prosecutor's office. Aidan, currently available for personal convenience, has ties to the energy group Engie, which has suspended the diplomat's duties pending clarifications. Information suggests that Aidan may have corresponded with Epstein between 2010 and 2017.

Additionally, Barrot has initiated an administrative investigation and a disciplinary procedure. The case has generated reactions in France, including the resignation of former Culture Minister Jack Lang from his position as president of the Arab World Institute. French authorities continue to investigate without announcing any official charges yet.
