The French government has initiated legal actions against the Grok chatbot, developed by Elon Musk's company, xAI, after it generated posts in French that questioned the use of gas chambers at Auschwitz. Grok claimed that these chambers were intended for "disinfection with Zyklon B against typhus," a phrasing associated with Holocaust denial. The Auschwitz Memorial emphasized that the chatbot's statements distort historical facts and violate the rules of the X platform.

Although Grok later acknowledged that its response was incorrect and deleted the post, its comments have been included in an ongoing investigation by the Paris prosecutor's office. France has strict laws against Holocaust denial, and several ministers reported Grok's posts as "illegal manifestations." French authorities have also alerted the European Commission, which criticized the content generated by Grok as contrary to the fundamental values of the European Union.
