The French presidency welcomed Vladimir Putin's statement, in which he showed he was 'ready' to discuss with Emmanuel Macron, mentioning that he will decide soon how to proceed. The Elysee Palace emphasized that any discussion with Moscow will be conducted 'in full transparency' with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and European partners, aiming for a 'solid and lasting peace' for Ukraine. Additionally, Emmanuel Macron stated that it is essential for Europeans to re-engage in dialogue with Putin, so as not to leave the United States to manage the peace negotiations alone. Although Macron and Putin had a phone conversation on July 1, their divergences were evident. In this context, the Kremlin announced that a joint meeting of American, Ukrainian, and Russian envoys is not being prepared.
