Andriy Portnov, a former Ukrainian politician, was shot dead outside a school in Madrid by unidentified assailants as he was taking his children to school

The attack on Andriy Portnov, a former adviser to Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych, took place on Wednesday morning in the Pozuelo neighborhood of Madrid. According to sources, the man was shot by two or three attackers, who hit him five times in the head and back. The incident happened near the American School and police were alerted around 9:15. Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine, there have been several violent incidents in Spain involving expats from the two countries.
