Mihailo Fedorov, former Ukrainian Minister of Defense, made a call on Tuesday evening for the organization of elections in Ukraine, even under the conditions of war with Russia.

In a video recording published on YouTube, Fedorov emphasized the need to find a legal and safe mechanism to resume the democratic process, stating that "democracy cannot be held hostage by Russia." This statement represents a significant challenge to President Volodymyr Zelensky, especially since Ukrainian legislation prohibits elections during martial law.

Fedorov, who was an ally of Zelensky, also criticized the corruption within the Ukrainian administration, suggesting that it affects the war effort. He also mentioned that reforms in the procurement sector contributed to his dismissal from the ministerial position.

His statements add a new dimension to the political tensions in Ukraine, while the country continues to fight against the Russian invasion. President Zelensky's office has not yet commented on these statements.
