The former Hungarian Foreign Minister, Peter Szijjarto, has resigned from his position as a deputy to become the director at the Chinese automotive giant BYD.

Peter Szijjarto, the former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary, has resigned from his position as a deputy to accept an offer from the Chinese automotive giant BYD, where he will take on the role of director responsible for external relations and the development of new business lines.

Prime Minister Peter Magyar, Viktor Orban's rival, took the opportunity to attack Szijjarto, accusing him of representing foreign interests and lobbying for subsidies from the Hungarian state for BYD before joining the company. Szijjarto, loyal to the Fidesz party, has been a supporter of close relations with Beijing and Moscow.

BYD, a major player in the electric automotive industry, will begin assembling vehicles in Hungary, thus strengthening its presence in Europe. This move is not unique, considering that other European politicians, such as the former German Minister of Finance, are also changing careers towards the automotive industry.
