The forest fire in Palaia Fokaia, east of Athens, has led to the evacuation of several residents, including children, due to wind-fanned flames. Nearly 90 firefighters and 28 vehicles, along with aircraft, are battling the blaze which has engulfed vegetation and olive groves. Greece is experiencing a heat wave with temperatures reaching 40 degrees Celsius and the fire risk index is very high. Another fire on the island of Chios continues to burn, consuming more than 4,000 hectares.
