Brazilian Senator Flávio Bolsonaro reportedly arrived in the United States, although the Federal Police canceled his passports, and Brazil’s Supreme Court asked him to surrender his travel documents, amid an investigation into money laundering, according to information reported by the BBC. Sources say he may have met with his brother Eduardo in Florida, but the exact route of his journey from Brazil to the United States remains unknown.
According to the British press, Bolsonaro may have departed from an airport near the border between Argentina and Brazil. However, Argentine authorities denied that the senator had officially entered the country. Brazil’s Federal Police requested information from Argentine authorities on Tuesday, following reports about a private plane bound for the United States that was at the airport in Puerto Iguazú.
Argentine officials inspected the aircraft operated by Baires Fly, identified by registration number LV-JQW, as well as its documents. The National Directorate of Migration stated that no flight plan including members of the Bolsonaro family had been found and that there was no record of the senator’s entry into Argentina.
The U.S. State Department announced that it would grant visas to Flávio Bolsonaro and his family. The senator, a right-wing candidate in the presidential election lost to Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, has not yet acknowledged the election result.
