Five Guys, the global restaurant chain, recently launched a 'buy one, get one free' promotion to mark 40 years of operation, but was overwhelmed by huge demand, leading to the premature halt of the offer. CEO Jerry Murrell announced a $1.5 million bonus for employees at the 1,500 restaurants in the U.S., acknowledging their efforts in the face of a difficult situation.

The promotion generated criticism on social media, and the company apologized for the inconveniences. Murrell made a controversial statement, comparing the work pressure to a tragic incident in the U.S., which sparked mixed reactions. He later tried to ease the atmosphere, emphasizing that he prefers to reward employees rather than spend on personal goods.
