A devastating fire occurred on Sunday morning in Neuves-Maisons, France, resulting in five deaths, according to an announcement made by firefighters and the prefecture. Among the victims are a 59-year-old man, a 60-year-old woman, a 20-year-old young woman, and a 16-year-old teenager. A fifth person, seriously injured, later died from their injuries. Another 27-year-old man suffered smoke inhalation, but his life is not in danger.
Firefighters were alerted at 3:15 AM and quickly intervened with 70 firefighters and 30 vehicles, managing to control the fire in a short time. The fire affected a three-story building that housed a store on the ground floor. The Minister of the Interior, Laurent Nuñez, expressed condolences to the victims and praised the courage of the intervention teams. The town hall will open halls to support the affected families and provide psychological assistance to those shocked by the incident.
