The Ecuadorian government announced the arrest of five individuals suspected of attempting to assassinate President Daniel Noboa, after his vehicle was attacked by approximately 500 protesters. Although the car showed signs of gunfire, Noboa was not injured. Violent protests erupted following the government's decision to eliminate subsidies for diesel, and the Conaie organization accuses the authorities of repression and arbitrary arrests. The government claims that the removal of subsidies will generate significant savings.
