On Saturday, a fire broke out in the cargo section of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka, Bangladesh, leading to the suspension of all flights. The incident occurred at gate no. 8, and firefighters were alerted at 2:30 PM, arriving at the scene at 2:50 PM, with 36 units mobilized to extinguish the flames. All flights were delayed or diverted due to the fire, but airport officials confirmed that the aircraft are safe. The director of the Bangladesh Freight Forwarders Association mentioned that the affected area includes a chemical storage facility, which was severely impacted. Images from local media show flames engulfing an airport building and spreading onto the runway. Damage assessment is currently underway.
