The FBI intends to award UFC an exclusive one-year contract to train special agents in hand-to-hand combat and tactical defense techniques, according to The Athletic, cited by Reuters. The proposal is presented in a document filed on September 30, allowing U.S. authorities to award the contract without reviewing competing bids.
The program aims to integrate mixed martial arts (MMA) skills with specialized defense techniques. The document states that the training should improve agents’ physical combat skills, mental resilience and tactical awareness—elements considered essential in high-risk interventions.
The value of the contract was not disclosed. UFC’s selection is linked to the organization’s ability to provide a specialized program, although the award has not yet been presented as finalized.
UFC and its president, Dana White, have a collaborative relationship with the Donald Trump administration. In June, the White House hosted the UFC Freedom 250 event.
