The FBI announced that it thwarted a credible terrorist threat, arresting four alleged members of a radical pro-Palestinian extremist group, who were planning coordinated bomb attacks on New Year's Eve in Los Angeles. They identified themselves as part of the Turtle Island Liberation Front (TILF), a group motivated by anti-government and anti-law enforcement ideologies. The group members intended to use improvised explosive devices (IEDs) to attack five distinct locations in the city. The arrests took place in the Lucerne Valley, where they were preparing to test the devices. Each was charged with conspiracy and possession of destructive devices. Additionally, a fifth person linked to the same group was arrested in New Orleans for planning a separate attack.
