Sources cited by Reuters indicate that Exxon is evaluating options for Lukoil's assets in Kazakhstan, where it collaborates with Chevron in the Karachaganak and Tengiz fields. Additionally, Exxon is considering a bid for West Qurna 2 in Iraq, Lukoil's most valuable asset, after withdrawing from the neighboring West Qurna 1 project last year.

Interest in Lukoil's assets has increased after the U.S. Treasury authorized companies to negotiate with the Russian group, with permission valid until December 13. Other companies, such as Abu Dhabi National Oil Company and private equity firm Carlyle, are also exploring similar opportunities. Lukoil holds significant international assets, including refineries in Europe and stakes in fields from various countries, representing approximately 0.5% of global oil production.
