Europe is facing an exceptional heat wave, with temperatures exceeding 42 degrees in France, Portugal, the Balkans and Spain. France has been under red alert and Spain has been on alert since August 3. Portugal has declared a state of alert due to extreme temperatures, expecting 43 degrees. Britain and Switzerland are also facing heatwaves, and Italy is in its fourth heatwave of the summer, with temperatures reaching 40 degrees. The Balkans and Romania have issued fire warnings.
