French MEP Valérie Hayer, president of the Renew Europe group in the European Parliament, harshly criticized the document published by the Trump administration, which redefines the "National Security Strategy" of the United States. Hayer stated that this document is "unacceptable and dangerous," emphasizing that the U.S. should not intervene in Europe's internal policies.
The American document anticipates the "civilizational disappearance" of Europe and promotes the fight against mass migrations. Hayer asserted that the Trump administration is an "enemy of Europe" and called for a firmer approach towards it. Additionally, the vice-chair of the European Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee, Nathalie Loiseau, highlighted the need for European strategic autonomy. In contrast, the spokesperson for the European Commission avoided commenting on the document, mentioning that it has not yet been assessed.
