The European Commission plans to issue up to €70 billion in bonds in 2025 to fund NextGenerationEU programs and other initiatives.

The European Commission has announced it will issue up to €70 billion worth of bonds in the second half of 2025, adding to the €86 billion previously raised. These funds will support payments for the NextGenerationEU programs, the Ukraine Facility, as well as macro-financial assistance to neighboring countries. The Commission will continue to issue green bonds to finance green initiatives, with €75 billion already mobilized. So far, over €304 billion has been disbursed to Member States through Recovery Facility grants and loans.
