Europe's electricity grids, outdated and without storage capacity, are in urgent need of modernization to support the growth of renewable energy and electricity demand. The Spanish blackout has highlighted the need for such investment, with an estimated $2 trillion to $2.3 trillion needed in Europe by 2050. Battery storage capacities also need to increase significantly from 10.8 GW to 200 GW to ensure a stable energy system.
