Lithuanian Finance Minister Rimantas Sadzius is running for the Eurogroup presidency, calling for a more dynamic and focused forum.

Rimantas Sadzius, the Lithuanian finance minister, has said he is a supporter of the European project and has expressed his intention to bring more dynamism to the Eurogroup, the forum of eurozone economic leaders. In an interview, Sadzius stressed that the letter signed by several European countries calling for a more active Eurogroup coincides with his vision. The election of the Eurogroup president will take place on July 7 and the candidate who wins a simple majority will be elected. The Eurogroup's role is to coordinate economic policies among eurozone member countries.
