The Greek finance ministry has confirmed the introduction of a €20 fee for cruise ship passengers arriving on Mykonos and Santorini islands from Tuesday. The measure is part of a law passed last year aimed at managing the influx of tourists to the islands, where infrastructure is under pressure. The tax will be €5 for other Greek islands and will apply mainly during the tourist season, from June 1 to September 30. Cruise agencies will initially pay the fees, which will then be reflected in ticket prices. The growth in the number of tourists to Greece has been significant, totaling 40.7 million in 2024, with the cruise sector growing by 22.4%.
