The European Union is ready for quick trade talks with the US. Von der Leyen announces talks with Trump

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen says the European Union is ready to make rapid progress in trade talks with the United States, but will need time until July 9 to reach a favorable agreement. She had a constructive telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump.

"Good discussion with the US president. The EU and the US share the most important and close trading relationship in the world. Europe is ready to move quickly and decisively in the talks. To reach a good deal, we would need time until July 9," Von der Leyen wrote on X.
