EU Ambassador to Georgia Pawel Herczynski has announced that the €30 million has been frozen as a first step. He said the EU would gradually phase out aid to the Georgian government and focus on supporting civil society and the media. This is the first direct consequence of the deterioration in EU-Georgia relations since Georgia was granted EU candidate status in December.
