Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the president of Turkey, expressed concern about a "worrying escalation" of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, following Ukrainian drone attacks that struck two oil tankers in the Black Sea, near the coasts of Turkey. Erdogan emphasized that these attacks threaten navigation security, the environment, and life in Turkey's exclusive economic zone. He warned all parties involved in the conflict, stating that the situation has reached a level that endangers navigation safety in the Black Sea. The two tankers, Kairos and Virat, were sailing under the Gambian flag and are associated with Russia's shadow fleet, used to circumvent Western sanctions. Additionally, another tanker, Mersin, was damaged in the Atlantic, and the cause of the explosions remains unclear. Erdogan stated that Turkey is closely monitoring the situation's developments and is prepared to contribute to resolving the conflict.
