The public dispute between Elon Musk and Ryanair CEO Michael O'Leary escalated after O'Leary refused to install the Starlink internet service on the airline's planes, citing additional fuel costs and estimating an annual expense of up to 250 million dollars. Musk reacted on platform X, calling O'Leary "misinformed" and suggesting that Ryanair does not understand the impact of Starlink equipment on fuel consumption.

O'Leary retaliated, stating that Musk knows nothing about aviation and describing platform X as a "farce." Musk called for O'Leary's dismissal, and when a follower suggested that he should buy Ryanair, Musk considered the idea good. Starlink is becoming increasingly popular among airlines, with over 20 operators, including United Airlines and Lufthansa, implementing this service. Ryanair, the largest airline in Europe, has been led by O'Leary since 1994.
