Eli Lilly reached a market value of $1 trillion on Friday, becoming the first drug manufacturer to enter the exclusive club of companies with this valuation, alongside technology giants. This achievement is largely due to the company's stock rising over 35% this year, driven by the continuously expanding demand for weight loss medications. Although Novo Nordisk had an initial advantage, Lilly's Mounjaro and Zepbound drugs quickly gained popularity, eclipsing the rival in terms of prescriptions. Lilly's shares reached a record level of $1,057.7, with the company's valuation now approximately 50 times the anticipated earnings for the next 12 months. In the last quarter, Lilly reported revenues of over $10.09 billion from its obesity and diabetes products, accounting for more than half of total revenues. Wall Street estimates that the weight loss drug market will reach $150 billion by 2030, with Lilly and Novo controlling the majority of sales.
