Eight men have been charged in the United States for an alleged terrorist plot targeting an Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) event that was set to take place at the White House in June, on the occasion of President Donald Trump's birthday.
Investigators claim that the group intended to use drones loaded with explosives to attack the crowd and shoot at people in panic. The indictment, filed in Ohio, includes charges of terrorist conspiracy and a plan to assassinate at a federal facility. Preparations began in May, and the suspects gathered money, weapons, ammunition, bulletproof vests, explosives, drones, as well as medical and communication materials.
Authorities discovered the threat a few days before the MMA event called 'Freedom 250', and several suspects were arrested in states such as Missouri, Nebraska, California, and Washington. An eighth man was recently arrested in West Virginia.
