Nicola Procaccini, co-president of the European Conservatives and Reformists (ECR) group, criticized the AUR's decision to initiate a motion of censure against the European Commission led by Ursula von der Leyen. He pointed out that George Simion, the leader of the AUR, has constantly campaigned against the Commission and that the ECR's refusal to support the motion was due to political links with Commission Vice-President Raffaele Fitto. This could affect Simion's relations with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
