Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania and other Eastern European countries are facing a demographic crisis with low birth rates and high migration. Experts point out that these countries have suffered social and economic upheavals post-communism, affecting family policies. Emigration of young people in search of better opportunities has led to an ageing population. However, in some cases, immigration could compensate for these demographic losses, but it depends on the cultural and economic background of the migrants.
