Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania and other Eastern European countries are facing a demographic crisis with low birth rates and high migration. Experts point out that these countries have suffered social and economic upheavals post-communism, affecting family policies. Emigration of young people in search of better opportunities has led to an ageing population.
