The Dutch government has issued a recommendation for parents, suggesting that children under 15 should be banned from social networks such as TikTok and Instagram for mental health reasons. The measure, which is not mandatory, is in line with other initiatives in Europe and other countries. The health minister highlighted the risks of heavy screen use, including sleep disturbances and depressive symptoms. The government is also recommending limiting smartphone use until fifth grade and has set guidelines on screen time.
